Teddy Bear Angels

I was recently inspired by a book called Marvelous Journey Home. This story had a huge impact on me and changed my perspective on life. It is a true story about three Russian orphans who had their lives changed forever because someone was willing to love them and pay the price to salvage them. The story teaches that we can all save someone even with a simple act. I highly recommend reading the book, or listening to their inspiring story told on this podcast.

I wanted to see how I could make a difference too, and thought of all the needy and sick children in the world who are in desperate need of a little comfort and hope. I remembered as a child when I used to feel alone and afraid and felt like there was no one who understood my pain, I would seek the comfort from my stuffed animals. They always listened without judgment and always kept my secrets safe. They gave me the comfort I needed at those times to feel like someone cared. It may seem simple, but I know how heeling a stuffed animal can be, and they can give just enough comfort and hope to make a difference in their life during difficult times.

Yesterday I whipped up a couple of these teddy bears from one of my favorite amigurumi books (shown below). They were really easy to make and a lot of fun! Why not make a few of them and donate them to needy children in your area? Here is a link with resources for how and where you can donate them: http://volunteerguide.org/volunteer/fifteen/donate-toys.htm

My Crochet Supply Kit

I thought it might be helpful to show everyone my personal crochet supply kit that I use on a daily basis. I used to keep everything loose inside a pencil bag but it made things difficult when trying to fish around for a small needle or find just the right hook. About a month ago I decided I needed a more efficient container for my tools and when I saw this one at Joanns I knew it would be perfect.
The reason I love it so much is that it literally has a spot for everything I use. It even has dividers so you can customize it just the way you want it. I put my larger hooks and pens in one section, smaller hooks in another, scissors, needles, stitch markers, tape measure, and thread in the others. I also try to keep at least 2 of everything so that way when one gets lost in the couch cushions I can keep working on my project until the other one turns up. Hopefully this is helpful :)
